What is it? Well, I’ll tell you but let's backtrack a bit...
Last Saturday the Chris Tomlin/Matt Redman/Louie Giglio "How Great is Our God?" tour came through Orlando and I went. Obviously it was amazing. But I personally wasn't there for the music (I can hear that stuff in just about any church in America these days) I was there to hear Louie Giglio speak. Let me just say Louie has a way with words that not many have. He makes the simplest message into a highly profound life change and this time was no different.
He considered this talk part 2 and a continuation of his "Indescribable" message. Here is a brief synopsis of "Indescribable":
The heavens are telling the glory of God, and their expanse declares the work of His hands. Night after night they remind us of just how small we are, and how huge God is. Looking out into the far reaches of the universe, we find a seemingly infinite expanse of mystery and wonder, intricately fashioned by a God of unfathomable size and power. Just a glimpse of one of the billions of visible galaxies He has formed resizes us, shrinking us, and the world we call home, to seeming insignificance in an instant. But as tiny as we may seem, the God who knows every star by name also knows yours, and mine. And in the most stunning rescue imaginable, God sent His Son to this spinning planet we call home--the Creator reconnecting us to Him with life that never ends.
"How Great is Our God?" begins where "Indescribable" left off...
M51 or the whirlpool galaxy astronomers call it the "darling of astronomy." last year, Louie Giglio show us two things about this galaxy in the deep reaches of space.
1.) Every second there are new stars being bored. Millions of star incubators are found within the whirlpool galaxy.
2.) Not only that, but at the center of this galaxy is a black hole which the Hubble Telescope took a picture of...and wow, check this out
The entire universe displays God's fingerprint and this is just one example...the cross of Jesus was on the mind of God even as he was creating the universe.
Putting that picture back in our heads, Louie continued in the universe focusing on the stars with the purpose of showing us just how small we are and how BIG God is.
We serve a BIG God!!
Louie took us to a few stars and put it into perspective:
If the earth was a golf ball...
The sun would be 15 feet in diameter
Another star would be the equivalent of 6 empire state buildings
Or 2 golden gate bridges
We are so very very small...
Our significance is in our insignificance.
God cares for us so much that his same fingerprint can be found within us.
Louie then looked within the human body and showed us just how great our God is.
When we are developing in our mothers womb...just for the eye to function a million nerve endings start to travel to the eye and another million from the eye to the brain, these nerve ending meet up and have to find their EXACT match in order for the eye to work...that is AMAZING to me
Though he went into more details (I’ll let you find the message yourself when it becomes available online) the "finale" of the talk was this...

Every living creature has laminin inside of them...the purpose of laminin is that it basically keeps our bodies from falling apart. It holds us together as one united whole.

I don't know waht your name is or where you are from, or frankly anything about you, but I just wanted to comment about the Chris Tomlin concert. I had the opportunity to go last night in Columbus, Ohio. I was as amazed as you were with Louie. Yes, I LOOOOVE Chris Tomlin, but Louie's talk is what stood out to me the most. And yes, my perspective of God's size changed immensely!!! It's incredible that those stars of that size came from the breath of God. How awesome is our God?!?!

was shown in our local church during an evening service. Being a "senior citizen" I have watched many speakers, but Louie's talk increased my faith even more. I had always worshiped a big God, but I didn't have HIM big enough. Louie does an outstanding presentation. Praise to our Heavenly Father.

I agree. Our God is an awesome God. One thing puzzles me though... considering the vast sizes and distances, I understand that, based on the age of light from the most distant galaxies and stars, that the observable universe is about 14 billion years old. The light from these distance galaxies has been travelling for 14 billion years before it reached us. How does this square with the creation accounts which took 6 days about 7000 years ago? According to this time frame, the oldest light visible to us should only be about 7000 light years away, not 14 billion light years.

I just went to the Chris Tomlin/Matt Redman/Louie Giglio "How Great is Our God?" tour, and came home to google Laminin like alot of you have. I found this Blog by you, Kyle Mconald. Your comment about hearing "that stuff" struck me as very arrogant. You missed Louies' whole point in telling us about Laminin in the first place. It was all about worship. You just came home and regurgitated the talk online to satisfy your need to feel like a somebody in your own eyes. I just hope your not a student at RTS, studying to get a degree, so you can go into ministry and infect the church with your self righteousness.

I attended the Chris Tomlin concert just last night here in Nashville and heard Louie's speak about the greatness of our God. I had to google laminin and your blog came up. We truly serve a great God!
Wow!! I didn't get to go to any of the tour, but we got to see the dvd at church last wednesday. This has got to be the coolest stuff ever! The fact that God breathed, and formed the stars is absolutely mind-boggling. And then the fact that he put so much care and love into each one of us, is just amazing! I was wondering though, where were you able to find that picture of the cross in the black hole? I've been trying to find it for a week and have been unsuccessful.

What an incredible touch from the true and living God in Tucson Arizona last night!!! Undescribable worship with the Holy Spirit's presence...Chris is a humble worshiper who gives all the glory to God. To see my 2 middle school daughters and each with a friend, with their hands raised in praise and their voices loud in obedience to our Lord, released of all bondage, free, not caring what others thought of them, was a breath of Him. And Louie's presentation was as awesome as the worship. What a team!!! Nothing like two great men, sold out for the Creator.

The Chris Tomlin concert was amazing. The worship was good, but the message, "WOW!" The message from Louie was better than any message I have heard in church in a long time. I now have an awesome picture in my mind of what God's glory truly looks like.
Not only does the universe contain His glory, but our bodies contain the glory of God in us!!! We are truly held together by Jesus. Praise His Holy Name!!

One of our pastors just attended the Chris Tomlin/Louie Giglio concert in San Diego and told us to Google "laminin." I couldn't sleep tonight and got up and remembered what he said and found your blog. I have to tell you that it gave me chills to watch the video clips of Louie explaining all of the findings re: the black hole and laminin. I really needed that reminder of how big God is because I keep trying to do everything myself although I don't seem to have much success at it. Thank you for the reminder to let God take it on His shoulders and relieve the burden from mine. He can surely handle these issues more readily than I and I am now going to pray that I can "be still" for I know that He is God. Hello. Our pastor showed this message about God breathed stars and laminin this Sunday. AMAZING! I told anyone who wasn't there about it! God is AWESOME! It's hard to think, He planned Jesus dying on the cross long before anything! How awesome is Our God? Any non-believer or scientist who thinks we just "evolved" would have to be absolutely awe-struck to see that in us, we have another proof of God's Glory! I attended the concert last night in charlotte, NC. I have to say, I drove 2.5 hours from Georgia to hear this Chris Tomlin concert with my neice. But after Louie Giglio spoke, I fell apart. I have been non-stop spreading the word about Laminin and everything else since last night. My God is mightier than my wildest imgaginations! What a thrill!
I shared this Laminin story with a gentleman in my church who is dear to me. His Grandson is going for another heart surgery, at 7 months old. And the other 5 month old grandson is also needing brain surgery. Praise to our God, who puts our structures in place and seals them with his fingerprint.

Thanks for posting this site. My employer went to Chris Tomlin's concert and gave me the dvd by Louie to watch over the week-end. It couldn't have been more timely! The image of the cross in the black hole blew me away, but when I saw laminin, all I could do was cry. We serve such an amazingly awesome God! I wish I could buy hundreds and thousands of the dvd's and give them away, but giving them your site is the next best thing. One of my very best friends is on a real tight budget right now (and so are we), but at least she's able to see and hear about the concert and Louie's talk through your site. Last night was the final concert of Chris Tomlin's "How Great is Our God!" tour in Johnson City, Tennessee. All I can say is: WOW! I came into work this morning fired up and ready to Google laminin to see what else I could find. It floored me to read this blog and realize that what is such a new revelation to me has been having the same phenomenal effect on so many other fellow Christians world-wide for months. My 12-year-old son chattered the whole way to school this morning about "if the Earth was the size of a golf ball..." and how cool he thought it was that his whole body was held together with little crosses. More than anything else, those few precious moments with him in the car this morning showed me just how big and how small our God can be all at the same time. Hallelujah! Great IS our God!

While I enjoy these possible correlations, they are no more scientific or factual in defending ones belief in a creator. If we are to be credible, then we must no act like the Darwin Theory supporters that point to one more fossil in the fossil record as one step closer to filling all the gaps in the Darwin Evolutionary Tree. As believers, can we be open to other views? Are we focused any less to see what we want to see? Are we any different to those who see Darwin's Theory in everything? Is it a cross or just a "t"? We can marvel, ponder, at this, but too often, we try to show this to others as if it was a statement of fact. If you did not believe in the Bible or Jesus...would you simply accept this as being a cross? After seeing NOVA's Judgement Day Intelligent Design on Trial, I was more frustrated with those defending ID (Creation repackaged). We will convince no one pointing to a "t" and calling it a cross!

The Greek word translated 'cross' in the bible is 'stauros', which means stake. There was no cross bar. That was all added later. The cross messages you see everywhere are misguided. Be careful about trying to find meaning in stuff like that. The scriptures were meant to be God's word, not little hidden symbols. I appreciate your zeal, but it lacks knowledge.
This comment is for Dan Beckens. In your haste to dishearten any Christians with the "cross" remark, I would like to also post a truth about the cross.
Yes, you are correct in the literal translation of cross meaning stake. However, the stakes were permanent structures on the hill sides outside the gates of Jerusalem. The cross bars were what the prisoners actually were tied to, or nailed to, in Jesus' case. They carried those cross bars down the city streets and up the hill at Golgatha. This is where we as Christians get the whole cross figure to be zealous about.
You should go there sometime (the old city of Jerusalem and the outer gates) and see Golgotha yourself. It is interesting.

I have recently been diagnosed with a blood disorder and went a terrible time previous to being diagnosed and the strange thing is that I found Jesus(God) through my experiences prior to and after my prognosis and was very interested about the D.V.D when it was shown at the church and firmly believe! that God is with me in every step that I take day, one day at a time and the medical personnel are very happy with me and i am happy with myself, and all is well with my soul! I know this is a little off topic of the laminin thing, but an earlier poster mentioned something about how these stars are millions of light years away. If they're that far away, that means the light from them takes X millions of years to arrive to us here on earth. This contradicts the literal teachings of the bible (the earth being only 6,000 years old). What do you guys think about this? Are the scientists wrong?
One of the most frequently asked questions when we get to heaven will probably be with regard to how old the earth really is. For that matter, how do we explain God's comment that "one day is but a thousand years, and a thousand years is but a day." Of one thing we can be certain. Science is fallible, and God is infallible. Not to get sidetracked, but a movie that I enjoy immensely is "National Treasure." It constantly reminds me how God leaves such intricate clues, perfectly fitting together, that lead to the greatest treasure imaginable. Louie's dvd is an example that there are clues everywhere!

To the blogger who asked the question about the 14 billion years contrasted with 7,000 years. I think of it this way; God simply siad, "let there BE light." With His omnipresence throughout all existence, when He spoke the words, "Let there be light..." I think there was light everywhere He wanted it to be...instantly. I don't know that it had to necessarily (in the creative moment) have to travel from a beginning point to all the universe. The next phrase in the Bible is "...and there was light."
I believe it...WAS...everywhere He deemed it to be.
Does all that make sense to you? I would like to see what others might say on this thought.

This DVD was shown at our freedom from life controlling issues class and may I say WOW. Everyone was moved and their perspective of God changed.
As for how old are the stars and what does the Bible say, there is a teaching about the time span between Genesis 1:1 ans 1:2. Find it, it is very interesting.
These are two of the most amazing DVD's that I have ever seen. I got connected with them through a co-worker who also works in the jail ministry in our town. They showed How Great is our God in the jail and 40 people accepted Christ that night. WOW. God is so good, and so HUGE. There is no box that we can think of that he will fit into. I am giving copies of the DVD's as Christmas gifts this year. So vital that we get the word out. Christ's return is eminent.
About the other creation reponse.. I agree with the person who said "God said let there be light and there was light." It didn't take millions of years to get here. He also made full grown trees with rings already in them and an earth that didn't look like it was made today....Just to keep things a mystery for the blind and clear for the people with His sight.
Cool stuff, indeed. But has any of it been subjected to any sort of peer-reviewed scientific scrutiny? Or is this just some dude's cool current Christian schtick? I hope not - but I can't help but wonder.
i have watched the video a number of times and i have also given out about 6 copies of it. it is a tool that God is using right now and we should help it spread. God really is amazing. remember not to get hung up on crazy facts like this too much because God desires our personal relationship to grow the most. Stay blessed and keep spreading the gospel.

Im from South Africa. Presently there is no concert in our country. I just bought the DVD today and WOW, Who am I that He is mindful of me.
If the human body has so much of the DNA of the Father, how come people still question the authenticity of this GREAT and AWESOME God.

i just came back from the end of the year camp for teenagers and our leaders were sharing a dvd that talked about laminin so i just thought id research it and see it for myyself after watching it i felt closer to god more than ever he is everything to me and being a 15 year old i feel like we are on this little golf ball in this whole BIG UNIVERSE and god has created us all and has taken his time to get to know us all and we should be really grateful to him ... it just makes you realise how special he really is!!!!!!!!!!

Today he was supposed to speak since our pastor was gone but lost his voice so he showed the church the video - it was just as awesome this time as last fall -and I shed tears of joy again too. How can anyone NOT believe in God after seeing this? I am so glad to know Jesus. Praise God. After seeing the facts on the Galaxy and Laminin and the optic nerve and all the other cool things that Louie talks about, how can anyone believe that this all happened by some chance - that we evolved? They say it takes more faith to beleive in evolution than creation and I agree. The Bible says "creation displays the glory of God" and Louie G. definately shows us the glory of God in his talk. There is not even words that can describe what I thought when I watched Louis G. Last Dec 28 our dgroup (cell grp) had our year-end meeting and this is the film we've watched as we reminisce and ponder on the greatness and faithfulness of our heavenly Father for the whole year of 2007. It just made me go back again to the truth that "it's all about Him!" It is so amazing how God orchastrates the seem-to-be complex for man to make it the simplest and easily understandable to our finite mind. Well what can we do, He is head over heels in love with us.

I know this is a little old, but here's one for you 'm' (19 November 2007). Scientists have established that the universe is expanding rapidly. To be expanding wouldn't it have to have a starting point? With the speed of light being the highest possible speed, according to the scientists, which no particle of matter can ever hope to attain, wouldn't it stand to reason that the universe, being made up of 'matter', cannot expand more rapidly than the speed of light? If that were the case wouldn't the light have been at the starting point all the time given that the universe all began in the one spot, where God was when he spoke? Wouldn't it also stand to reason that God having made the Earth from the same point in the universe as he made the heavens, put 'Earth' in the centre of the universe where the light has always been? So, no matter how far away an object is in the universe, the light from that object will always be visible to us here.
That puts you and me right in the centre of Gods' entire creation.

Was thinking about the 'New Jeruselem' that God is going to put on Earth while Louie was speaking on the DVD. This city will be a cube, as high as it is long and as wide as it is high. after some calculations while reading Revelations 21, I found that the City will be 1400 miles long, high and wide. With 3 gates on each wall, the gates will be 350 miles apart. The Hubble telescope is orbiting 360 miles above the earth, that puts it's orbit a bit over one quarter of the way up the city wall!
And they say God does not exist??
I am a praise and worship Leader and after watching the DVD, it has given me a new understanding of the God that we worship!

I want to THANK YOU for this DVD, this lesson!! It is SO amazing!! GOD IS AMAZING. I first learned about this from a sermon my Uncle Danny preached at the Hilliard Church of Christ in Columbus. I teach the "Prayer E Dogs" of Pine Lake Christian Church, a group of 4-6th graders. They were in amazement. Their comment was "How can people NOT believe in God"!!!! They all wanted to buy this to share with their family and friends. I also bought several as gifts, asking them to share this story with everyone and they are!!! I ended up going to 2 internet stores and 3 Bible Book Stores to buy as many as I could. Thank you for taking your time to show this to us. It is POWERFUL!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!

Wow...this is really cool to me. I have grown up in church and have always been a strong believer. But I am also big into science and have hated how science continues to try and disprove the existence of our Almight God. I think this just shows how amazing and detailed God is. And to the people who have posted about their skepticism...one thing i have learned about being a believer is that there are things we are not meant to understand completely. Like this shows, and like so many have said, we are infinitely small compared to God...so why would we understand and comprehend God's complexity. To most misunderstanding leads to doubt, but for me, it makes me appreciate that He is in control because we dont and never will completely understand this HUGE universe He created...and quite frankly, who are we humans to think we deserve knowledge comparable to His...isn't that what caused the fall of man in the first place...? Just a thought...hope that didn't offend anyone.

By the way, take this one step further and look at the word "covenant". According to Psalm 89, God has made a covenant with His chosen. We're taught that covenant means an unconditional promise or contract, which is true. But the Hebrew word for "covenant" in this Psalm is "briyth" (Strong's Concordance #1285) and means "a compact (in the sense of cutting; because made by passing between pieces of flesh)".
Interesting.
So...might this show us how the Holy Spirit dwells in us; i.e., in between the flesh...in between our DNA?

I have not got to see Louie in person like some others have but, I go to Caston High School and our FCA (Followship of Christian Athletes)just had a lock-in a our school and we watched the DVD and I was soooo.... amazed over most of the stuff he went over. I didn't even realize how great God really is until I saw the DVD. It made me almost cry when the laminin came up on the back screen. It made me think a lot about my life because my family is going though finical trouble and it made me realize that if I just give all my troubles, burdens, and pain to God he will take care of them. After watching the videos on youtube last night, I googled Laminin. I found your blog about it. At first I thought you had posted it the very same day I found it, until I noticed it was 2007, not 2008...exactly one year ago. Well, I'm having an on-going battle with cancer, but when I saw that awesome display in the video...what encouragement and hope to know I have something like Laminin in my body, too, structured in a way to confirm to me that our God is still in control. I was glad to find your blog about it. It was the best find for me when googleing for Laminin!
My aunt had forwarded this presentation to me about a month ago, but I just took the time to watch it yesterday. I think the Lord made me drag my feet, as He knew now was the time I really needed this message. I am facing a double knee surgery beginning in four weeks (I've already had 10 surgeries thruout my life). Needless to say, I was feeling a bit discouraged. After learning about laminin, I have been reminded who is really in control. When I begin my journey into the operating room, that will be the image I take with me. This is the most compelling proof to date that the Father truly holds us in His hands. He is the One who has given me these legs and I know that He will be the one to heal them. You are doing what Jesus commanded of us, telling/showing.. or even inventing "new ways for new generations", of getting His word to all who will here HIM. To those who do not know Him, and what He has for EACH one of us, we will pray for you and your heart. As well as the heart and soul of your friend with Friedeich's Disease. If you get into His word you will see that Jesus took "40 - 1" slashes with a whip called "Cat-of-nine-tails" that had jagged pieces of glass and bone and metals. And when it hit the back of our Lord, it ripped chunks of flesh and ligiments from not just His back but His sides and arms, every part of His torso. But - through those 39 lashes He recieved, every disease...EVERY DISEASE was taken from us-"BY HIS STRIPES YOU ARE HEALED". If you have God in your heart, You can and will find His healing."...ask and you shall recieve, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened",... "for if you ask for anything in My name, and BELIEVE with your heart that I am who I say I am, then My Father will give it to you." "For I have not come to condem the world but to save it" ANYM and friend, you are in our family's prayers. God's blessings and very presence be around you.

Are you so controlled by this way of thinking that you can't think critically?
God gave you a mind that can be used to weed out information that is FRIVOLOUS and to concentrate on the information that is SIGNIFICANT.
While it may be neat that this protein molecule, when diagrammed, is in the shape of a cross, that's really all it is: neat. What it is not is some kind of innate proof of the existence of a god, The God of the Bible or Jesus.
If a researcher found a molecule in the shape of a Sleigh, would it be proof of the existence of Santa Claus? Would they go head-over-heels about it? No. It would go something like this:
"Wow, that kind of looks like a sleigh."
and then they would move onto something of importance.
Please remember that critical thinking is what strengthens ideas.

I love the Lord and wouldn't even consider that He isn't the creator of the universe. I agree with Joshua (above) but I have to say that even though Laminin isn't 'innate evidence of God' it is still a heart warming reminder, from God to us Christians, that his hand is in our lives. Everywhere you look, through your eyes that God has opened, you can see remarkable evidence of at least a 'higher power', a designer. I just wouldn't bring up Laminin as absolute evidence of God (refer to Joshua's reasons above).
It's all comes down to the faith that God has given us.
I think that your webpage is another testimony to God, thankyou for sharing your feelings and the joy that Laminin brought you. It is wonderful to see that there are Christians all over the world.

I am thankful for your joy in the Lord and your zeal to find evidence of Him in nature, but I am concerned that most have ignored the legitimate question of the anonymous writers regrading God as the creator of horrible diseases and the swastika shaped potassium channel (April, 29 2008). Both require a respectful and gentle response.
First, I agree that the idea of God creating a disease to make people suffer and then expecting them to pray to Him to be relieved is insane. Christianity teaches that God created a perfect world without disease or death, but man's willful disobedience to God ushered sin and death into the perfect world, and as a result, we all have succumb to the temptation of sin and are in fact sinners.
As a result of sin, we have disease, hunger and all the other things people might label as bad. Many may ask if God is so powerful, why does He allow these things to happen? Partly, I would suggest that He is holding back the worst of it all. But more to your point, because we are in a fallen state and on the road to being separated from God for all eternity. By allowing us to expereince what lies ahead, we might turn to Him as the One who can rescue us from it. If we do turn to Him in repentance and faith through Jesus Christ, we will spend eternity with Him. If we do not, we will eventually find ourselves in a place where God's hand does not hold back the horrors of the world. In the end, God is glorified because He saved us from ourselves.
As for the swastika shaped potassium channel, I will assume this is accurate, but it does lend to my deep concern that many Christians have jumped on the laminin band wagon. Our ability to see laminin is based on science. Not that science is bad, no not at all, but it is subject to change. What if a better microscope is designed and we can peer deeper into the laminin structure and find that its building blocks are shaped like pitch forks. Would that not bring this all crashing down?
All of creation declares the glory of God. It is right in front of us, inside of us and is us. I urge you to see God right before your eyes and not to be led to a potentially unstable foundation.

Try not to sweat the rude anonymous comments. As a Christian, you should expect things like that—and worry if it doesn't happen to you.
As for the photos (not the drawing of the chemical structure of laminin), no non-believer will ever see the cross in those photos (partly because they don't WANT to, of course), but mostly because they really do not look like a cross. Rather, they look like an "X" with one leg extended—and that is how non-believers will see them. We see the cross because we want to see the cross. They won't because they don't want to.
It is pretty neat—and it is obvious evidence of Design. Try to tell that to an evolutionist, and you'll get laughed out of the place, but take heart, because on the Day of Judgment, they won't be laughing anymore.

Big Hi from New Zealand - Saw the DVD last night - gives me goose bumps thinking about it. Decades ago Ernest Rutherford (NZ Physisist) is reputed to have coind the phrase, "Colossian Force" for what we now know as LAMININ.
In an earlier post someone brought up 14 billion verese 6000 year since creation. The answer to me seems clear Genesis 1:1 In the beginig God created the heavens and the earth... some time after the creation event of verse one God seperated light from dark - the first day. So creation occured before day and night (24 hour day)were established.
Who knows how much time passed between Genesis 1 and Genesis 5. Was it 14 billion years or 14 milliseconds. It is not wise to make noise on subjects on which God is silent. God created thats good enough for me.
God is the most faithful to us, his Creation, his Power signifies in us that his even science could hardly define His ultimate power... his mystery is can be Answered behind his words in his book which is the BIBLE

I am 12 and I just got back from church camp. Our pastor talked about laminin and all the kids were SSSSSSOOOOOO fasinated!!!! She talked about how the CROSS is what holds things together! She said,"When God made laminin he probably like I can't wait 'till they invent a microscope and see this stuff!"

Have you ever visited a science class or had any sort of public education in your life? This is just coincidence. There are many cross shaped structures in our lives, since it is a very simple and distinct shape. You can interpret any random and abstruse theory into ever piece of science, but where is the evidence? What about all the other molecules which do not fit into the christian symbolism? You can't just cherry pick a single piece of evidence.
I can introduce today the holy religion of XYZ which uses circles, tetraeders, doughnut shaped symbolism and I can give you the legitimization for it in hundreds of structures in biology and every day life. Would it convince you to believe in my religion? Probably not. There you have the answer. Believe in god if you like, but do spread any false assumptions
